Privacy & Terms
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Yusker is operated by Yusker Inc. (United States) and Yusker Canada Ltd. (Canada) — together “Yusker”, “we”, “us”.
Privacy Policy
What this covers
This policy explains what personal information Yusker collects across the Yusker website, mobile apps, and business tools (including the point of sale and business portal), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. If you use Yusker as a business owner, driver applicant, or venue staff member, the additional sections below apply to you too.
Information you give us
- Account — email address, username, password (stored only as a salted hash), and optional profile details such as your display name, avatar, banner and bio.
- Content you post — posts, comments, reactions, reviews, photos and videos, favorites, and the places or events you tag. Community content is visible to others by design.
- Messages— direct messages and group chats, including photo attachments. Messages are encrypted at rest on our servers; attachments have identifying EXIF metadata (like the photo’s GPS position) stripped on upload. Disappearing messages are permanently deleted from our servers, including attachments, after they expire.
- Social graph — friend connections, close friends, and who you follow or message, used to power the social features you see.
- Orders & payments — when you order or pay through Yusker, we keep the order contents, amounts, tip and status. Card details are collected and processed by our PCI DSS–compliant payment processor; full card numbers never touch Yusker’s systems.
- Applications & sign-ups — if you apply to drive with Yusker, register a business, or leave your email for app-launch updates, we keep what you submit in the form.
Location
Location is central to what Yusker does, so we want to be precise about it:
- While you use the app — with your permission, we use your device’s location to rank nearby places and personalize results. Without that permission we fall back to an approximate location or one you set manually.
- Nearby alerts (optional, off by default) — if you enable them, the iOS app reports significant location changes in the background so we can notify you when you’re near a place your friends love. This requires the operating system’s “Always” location permission, is rate-limited on our servers, and can be turned off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
- We do not sell location data or share it with advertisers or data brokers — full stop.
Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data: browser or app version, operating system, IP address, and push notification tokens if you enable notifications.
- Usage data: searches, pages and places viewed, and interactions (taps, reactions, orders) — used to operate and improve the service and to compute the community signals that drive rankings.
- Approximate location derived from IP address when precise location is unavailable.
How we use information
- Provide the service: search and rankings, profiles, feeds, messaging, notifications, ordering and payments.
- Personalize honestly: your location, activity and friends shape what you see. Payment never does — see Ranking integrity below.
- Keep the platform safe: fraud prevention, abuse detection, and security logging.
- Communicate with you: verification codes, receipts, service notices, and — only if you opted in — product updates.
- Improve Yusker: internal analytics and aggregate statistics. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Venue & public data
Yusker’s catalog of places is built from public sources: business websites, public listings and licensed data partners. That includes publicly available business details (names, addresses, hours, menus) and imagery venues publish to market themselves. Community activity on Yusker (ratings, comments, reactions) is analyzed — including with AI tools — to compute the sentiment scores behind our rankings. Business owners can claim their page for free to correct details and manage imagery; to request a correction or removal, contact hello@yusker.com.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers acting on our instructions, and with the parties needed to complete something you asked for:
- Cloud infrastructure — our servers and databases run on Microsoft Azure; media (photos, videos) is stored and delivered through Cloudflare.
- Payments — a PCI DSS–compliant payment processor handles card collection, processing and payouts.
- Email & push — Microsoft Azure Communication Services delivers our emails; Apple and Google deliver push notifications to your device.
- Venues — when you order, book or pay at a venue, that venue receives your order details and the name on it (what any restaurant needs to serve you). Venues never receive your card number.
- Legal — if required by law, or to protect Yusker, our users or the public, we may disclose information to authorities.
Where data lives
Yusker’s systems are hosted in the United States, with content delivered globally through Cloudflare’s network. If you use Yusker from Canada or elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where it is protected by the measures described in this policy and applicable law.
Security
We run a formal security program aligned to PCI DSS Level 1: encryption in transit everywhere, encryption at rest for sensitive stores (including direct messages), strict access controls with multi-factor authentication for administrators, continuous security monitoring, and independent assessment on our roadmap. No internet service can promise absolute security, but security is engineered into Yusker rather than bolted on. Details for auditors and partners are available under NDA — see our security overview.
Retention & deletion
- Your content and profile stay until you delete them or your account.
- Disappearing messages are hard-deleted from our servers (including attachments) after they expire.
- If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data, except records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, payment transaction records).
- Backups age out on a fixed schedule after deletion.
Ranking integrity
Payment never influences our rankings. Yusker’s scoring is organic — built from publicly observable attributes and real community sentiment on our platform. Business subscriptions unlock management tools, never position. We do not accept payment to surface, hide or reorder results.
Cookies & local storage
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in (secure, httpOnly session cookies) and local storage for preferences like theme and saved location. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. Blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in from working.
Children
Yusker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Payment and ordering features require the age of majority in your province, territory or state. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, we extend the same core rights: access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, and withdraw consents (like location or notifications) at any time. Consent toggles live in your device and app settings; for data export or account deletion, contact privacy@yusker.com and we will action it promptly. Depending on your jurisdiction (including PIPEDA in Canada and the GDPR in Europe) you may have additional statutory rights, including the right to complain to your privacy regulator.
We respond within the timelines your local law requires.
Business owners, staff & driver applicants
- Business accounts: we keep your business registration details, claimed venues, billing status and staff role assignments. Subscription billing is processed by our payment processor.
- Venue staff: if an owner adds you to their team, we process your name, role and permissions on the owner's behalf to run their point of sale and portal.
- Driver applicants: application details (name, contact, city, vehicle type) are kept while your application is active and for a reasonable period afterwards; ask us to delete them sooner at any time.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
Terms of Use
Agreement
By using the Yusker website, apps or business tools you agree to these terms, formed between you and Yusker Inc. (for users in the United States and elsewhere) or Yusker Canada Ltd. (for users in Canada). If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service. You must be at least 13 to use Yusker, and the age of majority where you live to use payment features or hold a business account.
Your account
Keep your credentials confidential — you are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us immediately at support@yusker.com if you suspect unauthorized access. One person per account; usernames that impersonate others or squat brands may be reclaimed.
Your content
You own what you post. By posting content on Yusker (reviews, comments, photos, videos, posts) you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce and distribute it as part of operating and promoting the service. You’re responsible for what you post: it must be yours to share, lawful, and about genuine experiences. We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these terms, and we respond to valid intellectual-property complaints sent to legal@yusker.com.
Review & ranking integrity
The rankings only work if the signals are real. You agree not to post fake or paid-for reviews, review your own venue or a competitor’s while hiding your interest, offer or accept incentives for reviews or reactions, or otherwise manipulate rankings. Venues attempting to game rankings may lose their business account and community standing. Yusker never sells ranking position to anyone.
Orders, payments & bookings
- When you order food, pay at the table, buy a ticket or place a deposit through Yusker, the venue (or event organizer) is the seller of record — Yusker provides the platform that connects you.
- Prices, menus, availability, taxes and refund policies are set by the venue. Refund requests go to the venue first; we'll help when something goes wrong on the platform side.
- Payments are processed by our PCI DSS–compliant payment processor. By paying through Yusker you also agree to the processor's terms.
- Tips go to the venue's staff.
Business accounts
- You may claim a venue only if you're authorized to represent it; we may ask for verification and can reclaim wrongly claimed pages.
- Business subscriptions bill on the schedule shown at purchase and renew until cancelled; cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current period unless the law requires it.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of what you publish (menus, prices, hours, allergen and dietary information) and for your own regulatory compliance (food safety, alcohol service, employment).
- Subscriptions unlock management tools only — they never affect ranking.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law, infringe intellectual property, or violate others' privacy
- Harass, threaten or abuse anyone, on the platform or through it
- Post spam, malware, or deceptive content
- Scrape, bulk-collect or resell Yusker data or content without our written permission
- Probe, disrupt or overload the service, or attempt to access accounts or systems that aren't yours
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation (including undisclosed venue ownership when reviewing)
Accuracy of information
Venue details come from public sources, our partners and venue owners, and can be wrong or out of date — hours change, kitchens close early, menus rotate. Yusker provides this information “as is” and doesn’t warrant it. Confirm critical details (especially allergens and dietary claims) with the venue directly.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yusker’s total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to Yusker in the twelve months before the claim and (b) USD $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights in Canada or elsewhere.
Termination
You can stop using Yusker at any time, and request account deletion via privacy@yusker.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create risk for other users or venues, or where the law requires. Sections that by their nature should survive (content license for content you left public, integrity rules, disclaimers, governing law) survive termination.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. For material changes we’ll give notice in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use Yusker after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
For users contracting with Yusker Inc., these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. For users contracting with Yusker Canada Ltd., they are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and venue rights of the place you live.
